Visiting Paragould? A City like No Other. Paragould is located in Northeast Arkansas with an estimated population of around 26,113. Being located in the heart of the country allows easy travel to cities such as Memphis (88 miles), Little Rock (153 miles), and St. Louis (208 miles).

Paragould was incorporated on March 3, 1883, while it was still an uncultivated timber-covered tract. Most of the area for the town was part of a 281-acre farm owned by a settler from Tennessee, Willie Pruett, who had purchased it in 1869.

Located on the grounds of the historic Greene County Courthouse; the Paragould War Memorial features a seven-foot-tall bronze Statue of Liberty replica, which has the distinction of being the oldest Statue of Liberty outside of the state of New York.

Paragould was thriving at the turn of the 20th century. The city was able to support the demands of new industries and a rising population. By 1910, the blossoming town of Paragould had three department stores, an opera house, a hospital, and six banks.
