Newcastle United have confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on a season-long loan from Southampton. The Magpies had been chasing James Trafford as their preferred goalkeeper target but lost out in the race to Manchester City, prompting a quick pivot to Ramsdale.

Aaron Ramsdale, who suffered a relegation with Southampton in the last English Premier League season, has moved back to the top flight with a loan switch to Newcastle United

Ramsdale had been heavily linked with a move to Leeds United earlier in the window. Brazilian shot-stopper Lucas Perri recently arrived from French club Lyon to bolster their goalkeeping department.
