Only a few weeks ago, President Donald Trump seemed confident a deal was days away that would end the fighting in Gaza, secure the release of hostages and allow aid to flow into an enclave where people are starving to death.

A new video by an Israeli Defense Force (IDF) spokesperson allegedly shows Hamas militants boasting about their meals in underground tunnels.

Militants “didn’t want to make” a deal, Trump said after U.S., Israeli ceasefire negotiators pulled back from talks.

Gen. Eyal Zamir has made it clear that he does not want to endanger the remaining living 20 Israeli hostages held by Hamas in the 25% of Gaza that the IDF has not taken over.

Israel said it received Hamas' latest ceasefire proposal, with an Israeli official calling it “workable,” although no details were provided. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on record. Hamas confirmed in a statement early Thursday that it sent the proposal to mediators.

Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, said Friday that its fighters targeted an Israeli armored vehicle in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis.
