Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell is suing the Trump administration, accusing it of unlawfully cutting billions in disaster preparedness funding.Campbell joins a 20-state coalition that is pushing back against the shutdown of FEMA's Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program,

FEMA announced in April that it was ending the funding to eliminate “waste, fraud and abuse.” The program saved taxpayers more than $150 billion over 20 years, the plaintiffs said.

The Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program aimed to distribute billions of federal dollars to state and local governments to protect against climate-related disasters, but the administration now says it was “wasteful and ineffective.
