This isn't how Bryson DeChambeau drew it up. He was already in a brutal spot at an odd angle in the rough at the No. 4 in his opening round of The Open Championship at Royal Portrush. But then, DeChambeau came up with nothing but air. His third shot was, well, a third stroke but not a third contact.
The Open Championship prize purse for 2025 will be the same as the 2024's, a total of $17 million. The winner will claim a significant portion of the total, $3.1 million, while the runner-up will claim $ 1.7 million and the third place finisher will take home $1.1 million.
Matt Fitzpatrick is obviously on the younger side of that spectrum and while he has not won a major since his victory at the 2022 U.S. Open he has had moments of greatness in the aftermath.
