Chris Mack is a better coach. Richard Pitino is a better choice. Xavier University apparently passed on the opportunity to run it back with a coach who has deep ties to the Musketeers program, deciding instead to bring in a new voice and fresh perspective.

During his introductory press conference, Pitino spoke on the changing landscape of college athletics, saying it’s his goal that Xavier not only recruits talented players, but also develops those players over multiple seasons.

Pitino has 13 seasons of experience as a head coach, having won an NIT Championship and made four NCAA Tournament appearances.

The New Mexico men’s basketball team has found a replacement for departed head coach Richard Pitino.  According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the Lobos and UC San Dieg

Richard Pitino, the son of St. John's head coach Rick Pitino, led New Mexico to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament, helping the Lobos defeat Marquette in the first round before losing to Michigan State.
