Mayor Eric Adams on Monday addressed the recent protests in Los Angeles over ICE policies, saying similar violence in the in New York City will not be tolerated.
“People are seeing that ICE is invading their communities,” says David Chung, an organizer with the People’s Forum. “They’re seeing that ICE is spending all of these resources that they claim that immigrants are taking and they’re ready to stand up and fight back.”
Activists plan more events Tuesday in New York, Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta. A curfew was imposed across downtown L.A. until 6 a.m.
At a news conference held June 9, NYC mayor Adams and NYPD commissioner Tisch promised safety to protesters, New Yorkers.
