California Gov. Gavin Newsom said the federal government is moving to deploy the National Guard in response to protests in Los Angeles over immigration operations that have resulted in some clashes between demonstrators and authorities.

The Trump administration said it would send 2,000 National Guard troops into Los Angeles after a second day in which protesters confronted immigration agents during raids of local businesses.
