Anthropic, a ChatGPT rival with its AI assistant Claude, is finalizing a fresh $3.5 billion funding round that would value it at $61.5 billion, per The Wall Street Journal.

Participating institutions will leverage $50 million in research grants, compute funding and API access, provided by OpenAI, to "catalyze progress at a rate faster than any one institution would alone ... not only to fuel the next generation of discoveries, but also to prepare the next generation to shape AI’s future," according to a press release.
