The terrorist group has survived the Israeli invasion, continues to recruit and can’t be excluded from any future governance model
We all rejoice at the return of hostages from Gaza, but the survival of both Israel and the Palestinian people depends on ending the terror group’s reign.
The Wednesday, Jan. 22, issue of The Mercury had a juvenile AP headline at the bottom of the front page. The bias is so clear and obvious. Just so the AP and The Mercury know, the Americans are back in charge in Washington, DC. Americans are solidly against Biden’s pardons of thousands of potential lawbreakers and convicted murderers.
Beyond the hostage deal comes a potential ceasefire. With this ceasefire, Palestinians and those otherwise displaced by the conflict should be able to return to their homes in Gaza. On top of this, more humanitarian aid will be welcomed into the area, ideally without disruption.
The Israeli cabinet will meet on Friday to discuss and ratify the ceasefire deal reached with Hamas, according to a senior Israeli official. A day after a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel was announced, the agreement is being held up by disagreements between the two sides, according to a senior Israeli official.
For eight months, the framework of the ceasefire deal that could bring an end to the war between Israel and Hamas had been on the table, prompting fury about the delay among some, and now praise for President-elect Donald Trump for helping to get it over the line.
