Thirty officers at a Southern California juvenile detention facility have been charged for their role in facilitating so-called “gladiator fights” between youth in their care, the state’s attorney general said Monday.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta charged 30 corrections officers for their allegedly enabling "gladiator fights" at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.

The fights occurred over a six-month period 2023 and involved 143 victims ranging in age from 12 to 18, according to the Department of Justice.
