HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Your First Alert Weather Team has declared a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY for all islands through Monday afternoon due to an elevated threat of wildfires. Strong easterly winds, especially during the daytime hours, will be able to cause any fires that occur in leeward areas to spread quickly.

Waves of heavy rain are expected over the next three to four days. At times, it will be partly sunny; at other times, light to moderate rain will fall. Then, there will be periods when the skies open up with heavy rain, thunder and lightning.

CBS News New York's Vanessa Murdock says the best chance for severe weather will happen on Monday and Tuesday as the area deals with temperatures in the upper 80s with high humidity.
