In the hours since a four-day mediation period between union leadership with NYSCOPBA and state officials representing DOCCS led to a Consent Award being issued, locally elected GOP leaders are voicing their thoughts on the agreement.

New York's Department of Corrections and the union representing correction officers agreed to terms on several issues to address the officers' safety and workplace concerns.

The decision to return to work is not a collective vote by NYSCOPBA members. Each individual who is currently refusing to work must decide whether to return or face potential termination, fines, and possible arrest for violating a court order.
