The All India Football Federation (AIFF) confirmed on Saturday that a job application attributed to former Barcelona manager and Spain midfielder Xavi Hernandez for the India head coaching role was a hoax.

On July 26, the AIFF issued a statement confirming that while they had received emails in the names of both Xavi Hernandez and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, they could not verify if the applications were authentic.

Applications supposedly from Pep Guardiola and Xavi Hernandez to manage India have both turned out to be hoaxes, the country's football association says.
