Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially pulled the plug on its Tiana princess series as it abandons making original longform content for streaming, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. A spokesperson confirmed there will be some layoffs in its Vancouver studio as a result of this shift in business strategy.

Walt Disney Animation Studios won’t be wasting any more time on streaming shows, according to a new report. The studio has dropped long-gestating plans for a Tiana series (about the protagonist of 2009’s The Princess And The Frog) starring Anika Noni Rose and is dropping all plans for longform content,

"Tiana," a streaming series from Walt Disney Animation Studios that was meant to debut on Disney+ and continue the adventures of Disney's first Black princess (voiced by Anika Noni Rose), is no longer moving forward at the animation studio.

Walt Disney Animation Studios will no longer produce a series on Princess Tiana as the company reimagines its strategy.
