The Federal Aviation Administration approved United Airlines planes to be the first with Starlink internet by next month. This will be the first time air travelers will have access to high-speed internet that is resistant to poor weather conditions.

United Airlines announced Monday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved its first Starlink-equipped aircraft type allowing passengers to have access to high-speed Wi-Fi. The first commercial flight will be on the United Express Embraer 175 scheduled for May.

United Airlines's commercial passengers will experience Elon Musk's Starlink technology starting in May, according to a statement from the airline.

A launch date is set for the first batch of what will be thousands of satellites for Amazon's Project Kuiper as the company looks to play catch-up with SpaceX and its Starlink internet constellation.

Project Kuiper will eventually be a constellation of 3,200 satellites. The first launch is planned for April 9.

The United Launch Alliance rocket is set to help Amazon take a step toward a satellite internet service that would likely compete with Starlink.
