Hundreds of parents and students are on edge Thursday after investigators say a 15-year-old sent violent messages to children at four different schools in Union County.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office took a 15-year-old high school student into custody Wednesday, after she allegedly threatened violence against several schools. The teenage girl’s motive for the threats was to try and miss class at Cuthbertson High School,

The National Weather Service says an EF1 tornado slammed the Porter Ridge community of Unionville in Union County on Wednesday morning, knocking down power poles and trees and flattening sheds. NWS says the tornado was only on the ground for three minutes.

A tornado warning was issued by the NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC on Wednesday at 8:31 a.m. in effect until 9 a.m. for Union County.
