Daltrey joked once his voice was gone he’d have a “full Tommy,” referring to The Who’s 1969 rock opera, Tommy. The album tells the story of a fictional character named Tommy Walker who dissociates and becomes “deaf, dumb and blind” to the world around him.

Roger Daltry, the 81-year-old frontman of The Who, told a crowd at London’s Royal Albert Hall last night that he was going blind. Per The Sun, The Who were performing their 25th annual Teenage Cancer Trust charity show when Daltry revealed that he was losing his sight. In 2018, Daltry announced he was “very, very deaf.”
