The Department of Justice says it is reviewing the prosecution of former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters. It's latest move by the Trump administration to use its power to reward allies who violated the law on the president's behalf.

Federal officials said the review will evaluate whether Peters’ prosecution was “oriented more toward inflicting political pain than toward pursuing actual justice or legitimate government

The Justice Department announced Monday it would review the case of Tina Peters, the former Colorado county clerk convicted of tampering with election machines to prove the 2020 election was stolen from President Trump.
