An opinion released by the Office of Legal Counsel concludes the president can abolish national monuments declared by past administrations.

Contrary to a longstanding legal opinion, the Justice Department says that President Donald Trump has the authority to revoke the status of national monuments established under former President Joe Biden.

President Trump told a reporter on Wednesday the United States is currently in trade negotiations with "around 15 countries" including Japan and South Korea just days after he said he had reached a new trade agreement with China.

After talks in London this week, the two countries say they're largely going back to a framework they already agreed on in May.
