It's been five days since Wyandotte County Sheriff's Deputy Elijah Ming was killed while assisting at a domestic standby call. Since his death, we've heard stories about Deputy Ming's contagious smile and positive attitude.

The Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office charged Shawn Harris, 38, with capital murder this week in the killing of Elijah Ming, a nearly nine-year veteran of the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement officials said the killing of Elijah Ming, 34, was another example in the spate of domestic violence calls and shootings this summer. If convicted, Shawn Harris, 38, faces a life sentence or the death penalty.
