SEPTA says they have until Aug. 14 for state lawmakers to approve funding or else they will be forced to implement service cuts that amount to a 20% overall reduction in services.

The initial cuts built into SEPTA’s doomsday budget will go into effect later this month if Pennsylvania lawmakers do not approve a funding package by next week, the transit agency’s leaders said Wednesday.

Barring an increase in state funding to address a budget gap, SEPTA is 18 days away from reducing service on more than 100 lines across its system.
