The greenest and grandest parade of the year is back. The city of Dublin has been preparing for its annual St. Patrick’s Day parade for months. The City of Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Day preparations are in full swing.

This year's theme is 'Eachtraí’, the Irish word for 'adventures', which represents the "unique essence of Ireland and of Irish people"

The celebrations will kick off at 10am with a family-friendly St Patrick's Festival Treasure Hunt at Dublin City Council Civic Offices, Wood Quay. Then, across the weekend, there will be Irish language events, visual art, fire shows, walking tours, live music, workshops, outdoor games and more. Check out the full schedule of events here.

With nationalism ascendant and Catholics outnumbering Protestants, green was widely embraced, particularly since it had been worn by the United Irish.

Kicking off at noon on March 17, the parade will weave its way around the city for about two hours, wrapping up around 2pm
