A shooting at a US Air Force base in New Mexico early Saturday morning left one airman dead and another wounded, authorities said, adding that it was not an act of terrorism or an attack by an outsider.

A U.S. Air Force base in New Mexico reported a fatal shooting in the early hours of Saturday morning following an “off-base pursuit” that warranted a rapid response from local law enforcement.

One airman is dead and another is injured with a gunshot wound following a "shooting incident" involving security forces at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico early Saturday.

Texas reported 90 cases this week, while New Mexico reported nine. A majority of the cases have been in a Texas county where vaccination rates have lagged behind the rest of the state.

The measles outbreak in rural West Texas has grown to 90 cases across seven counties, the state health department posted online Friday, and 16 people are hospitalized.

"I think that this is going to get into the hundreds of cases and could take many months to fully snuff out," Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former commissioner of the FDA, said about the ongoing measles outbreak in Texas and New Mexico.
