Alexzandria Hunt learned she had been fired by the Trump administration when she was abruptly locked out of the computer system at the Hampton VA Medical Center on Feb. 25.

"It broke my heart," retired Army Staff Sergeant Alexzandria Hunt said. "It made me feel like nothing, like I didn't matter, like I was just a number."

HAMPTON, Va. — The Hampton VA Medical Center dismissed employees this month as the Trump administration continues to make cuts to the federal government. Walt Dannenberg, the acting executive director, said the dismissals were "limited" and involved staff who were still considered probationary.
