Ellen Pompeo is revealing the exact moment her daughter prescribed herself a break from her mom’s hit medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Grey’s Anatomy is celebrating its 20th anniversary as Season 21 plays out on the 2025 TV schedule, and over the years that Ellen Pompeo has been portraying Meredith Grey, she’s given birth to three children.

Pompeo's character Meredith Grey has been a series regular on Grey's Anatomy for the past 20 years (the show premiered in 2005). It wasn't until the midseason finale of the 19th season of the show that it was revealed that her character would be moving with her kids to Boston.
