Manchester City have completed the signing of Rayan Cherki from French club Lyon for €36.5million (£30.9m, $41.7m). The 21-year-old France international has signed a five-year contract until 2030. Rayan Cherki is only the latest talent fresh off the Lyon production line, but he may be the best yet. He joined Lyon at the age of seven from AS Saint-Priest and, aged 16 years and 140 days, became their youngest goalscorer in January 2020.
Manchester City has kickstarted the post-Kevin De Bruyne era by signing maverick France playmaker Rayan Cherki from Lyon for 36 million euros in time to play in the Club World Cup.
Rayan Cherki says he’s thrilled about the prospect of playing alongside City’s numerous attacking talents after finalising his move to the Club.
It is two signings in two days for Manchester City and, according to Opta, they are two impressive ones at that. Rayan Cherki led all players aged 21 or under for both chances created (75) and expected assists (11.7) in Europe's big five leagues in 2024-25.
