Veterans who have been abruptly fired from federal jobs say they feel betrayed by the Trump administration's dramatic downsizing of government.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is planning to cut over 80,000 workers from the agency that helps administer benefits for America's military veterans, according to an internal memo sent to staff and seen by Reuters.

The memo instructs top-level staff to prepare for an agency-wide reorganization in August to “resize and tailor the workforce to the mission and revised structure.”
