The state is ordering National Grid to fix "severe billing errors" affecting thousands of its gas customers in Massachusetts.
The company failed to send timely bills to the tens of thousands of customers this winter due to an issue in its customer billing system. That means many will see those charges waived.
National Grid’s problems began in November, “due to a deficiency in its customer billing system related to the ‘crossover’ from off-peak to peak rates on November 1,” the letter said.
