India's aviation regulator has ordered all Boeing 787s being operated by local carriers to be inspected after an Air India crash killed 270 people this week, the aviation minister said on Saturday, adding the authorities were investigating all possible causes.
He said there could be many other possibilities for the crash such as fuel contamination, and glitches in software and control systems
Air India on Saturday announced an interim payment of ₹25 lakh or approximately 21,000 GBP each to the families of the deceased and to the survivor, to help address immediate financial needs. This is in addition to the ₹1 crore or approximately 85,000 GBP support already announced by Tata Sons.
The Civil Aviation Ministry is set to head a high-level meet today with DGCA and AIA officials to address the Air India tragedy.
